Only two kinds of people may give you immigration legal advice
Under US rules, immigration legal advice may be given only by a licensed attorney or by a DOJ-accredited representative working at a recognized organization. The Department of Justice publishes a list of recognized organizations and accredited representatives, and many of them help families at low or no cost. Be careful with anyone else who offers immigration advice for money: in the United States, notarios and immigration consultants are not authorized to give legal advice, and relying on them has hurt many families. If your case involves a prior denial, unlawful presence, a criminal record, or any question of inadmissibility, talk to a lawyer or an accredited representative before you file anything.
We are not USCIS, and official forms are free
PetitionKit is an independent website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of USCIS, the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, or any government agency. Every official immigration form is available for free at USCIS.gov, and no one needs to pay anyone to download one. Names of agencies and forms appear on this site only to help you identify the correct authority and the correct paperwork.
No promises about outcomes or timing
PetitionKit makes no promises about whether any petition will be approved, when any case will be decided, how an interview will go, or when a visa number will become available. Those outcomes belong to USCIS and Department of State officers and to a queue no website controls. Anyone who guarantees an immigration outcome is promising something they cannot deliver.
Calculators and estimators are educational
Our fee calculators, income requirement tools, and processing time estimators apply the government's published figures to the numbers you enter. Their output is an educational estimate, not a case evaluation, a quote, or a prediction of your case. Fees change, processing times shift monthly and vary by office, and the Visa Bulletin moves every month. Always confirm the current figure at USCIS.gov or travel.state.gov before you file or pay anything.
Self-help documents are yours, not ours
The letters, checklists, and packets you assemble with our tools are self-help documents you prepare and use yourself. We do not review your case, we do not file anything with any agency, we do not communicate with USCIS or a consulate for you, and using our tools does not make PetitionKit your representative. Everything you submit to the government must be true, complete, and signed by you.

Where we link to USCIS.gov, travel.state.gov, and other official pages, we do so to point you to the authority behind a statement. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link or a listing in our attorney directory is informational, not an endorsement, a referral, or a recommendation, and you should evaluate any professional yourself before hiring them.
How to confirm a requirement
When a guide names a form, a fee, or a step, treat the official source as the final word. Check the current form edition and fee at USCIS.gov, check consular steps at travel.state.gov, and bring case-specific questions to a licensed immigration attorney or DOJ-accredited representative. If this site and the government ever disagree, the government source is correct.
